Time continues to speed up and here we are another year later. The holidays are over and the New Year is upon us. Maybe your New Year’s resolution is to get off the fence and buy a home or finally put your house on the market. Well, now is the time to do it! Season is here, the snow is flying up north and we have both hot weather and a hot real estate market. If you are a “year rounder”, I know you’re not crazy about the fact that you now have to wait in line for any restaurant or to battle traffic around town, but the good news is people are still coming to our area and our economy is much better than a lot of other areas! So how can we really complain about some of the ill effects of our friends the snowbirds?
If you decided that this is your year to buy, be prepared because a lot of other people have decided the same thing. Anything priced right will elicit multiple offers, so make sure you’re pre-approved for a mortgage or have cash in the bank ready to go. Being quick to act is the difference between becoming a homeowner and renting for another year. Remember that we see a massive population increase every winter in our sunny SW Florida and with that come hoards of buyers looking to gobble up their own slice of real estate that’s not covered in snow.
Looking to sell? Why wait? This is your time. Sales have been increasing and inventory decreasing. You know that the cold weather up north will always give you the best chance to unload your property to a happy buyer here in the warmth. Price your property right and watch buyers come knocking on your door. January, February, and March are your best months for activity with the most amount of prospective buyers on the streets. A few tips for the sellers: make sure you price it right, clean it up, stage it with furniture, play soft music and have on all the lights prior to a buyer viewing your home. These little tips can make all the difference.
Now that the stress of the holidays is behind you, make this year about you and getting your real estate goals in order. Dream big and watch the world unfold for you. Don’t let another year pass you: buy! Set a goal and go for it – this is your year!
