I recently had the opportunity to play one of the best golf courses in SW Florida. I absolutely loved it! Most people don’t know that my college background is Business and Professional Golf Management, so I say that with all sincerity. Since my golfing experience was so enjoyable and the homes were so unique, I thought I’d share the details with all my loyal readers!
This hidden gem is quietly tucked away, less than 10 minutes from Ft. Myers International Airport on the northwest corner of I-75 and Daniels Parkway. Renaissance boasts one of the lowest densities in all of Southwest Florida with a maximum capacity of only 389 home-sites. Developed and still owned and operated by Worthington Communities, the club is thriving and profitable. Renaissance boasts a full service golf club offering country club amenities, such as a full service spa and fitness center, tennis, and first class dining.
Both new home sales and memberships to the golf club have increased significantly since the end of 2010 and into 2011. This is attributed to simple focus. “We take care of the homeowners and in turn they take care of us by referring their friends and family,” says Jay Westerlund, Membership Director for Renaissance. Looking around the club, it’s quite obvious that the members are very happy there. I was greeted with a warm smile by the extremely friendly staff. I felt like I was home even though I was just visiting!
Not only do the homes offer a refreshing change from the all too typical cookie cutter models, the golf course is challenging, yet very fair. Unlike most golf courses in Florida where houses can be crammed together with narrow fairways, here the fairways are wide and playable. Renaissance knew their course was so good that they actually built it first. It really is a “Field of Dreams” vision; if you build it, they will come! After people got a taste of the golf, the homes have been selling themselves.
Homes range from the 200’s to over 5 million. The low density in the community really gives it a unique feel, allowing for easy access to the golf course and other amenities at the club. If you are looking for a very rare, private community in the heart of Southwest Florida, Renaissance is a perfect place to end your search. Please contact me if you’d like a personal tour of the community, I think you’ll realize that Renaissance truly is the perfect place to “Rediscover the Art of Living.”
